Starganauts Character Interview: James "Dudeman"

Starganauts Character Interview: James

And up next on our character interviews...

James Erskin

● Name

James “Dudeman” Erskin. PLEASE call me Dudeman! James sounds like a professor!

● Age

I’m 25. A quarter century, dude!

● What did you do before the events of the story?

I surfed and worked as a barista. Gotta support that passion with a paying job somehow!

● What is the most important lesson you learned during the events that you can share— without spoilers!

Well, there’s no way I can share what I learned without spoilers, so…you’re gonna need to read the story to find out! Haha.

● Who is the person you are closest to on the team?

Sharko. We practically grew up together! He’s the guy who always has my back…when we’re not grinding each other’s faces into the sand. 😉

● How would you describe yourself?

Good grief! The others would probably say I’m an angry mess. I prefer to think of myself as the only rational and sane person in the group. I don’t go forcing my opinions on them. Why can’t they keep them to themselves?

● What is your position on the team?

Devil’s advocate. Some would say literally! I ask the questions the others don’t want to, and keep their minds more open. I also work as a survivalist, using my Eagle Scout skills to keep us going.

● You’re stranded in space— what three items do you take with you?

A transporter, a replicator, and a time machine. That way, I can visit whatever place I like, crash back in my pod, replicate food and stuff for myself, then travel back in time so I don’t get stuck in space. You didn’t say they needed to be real-world, did ya?

● What is your favorite place you’ve visited on your journey?

Can I say home? Can I say Earth? I’d really like to go back, man! I miss the waves.

● What is your least favorite place you’ve visited on your journey?

Um, everywhere!!! I mean, everybody is all polite and all, but they can get kinda insufferable. I guess the bad guy’s place wasn’t super.

● What do you consider your greatest strengths and greatest flaws?

My passion is my strength, and my temper is my weakness. I tend to get passionate about what interests me, and that means I don’t give up easily or quit. But, I will admit my anger can get the best of me. It sucks…especially when I lose a surfing meet.

● Tea or coffee?

Coffee, dude! Gotta keep the energy up to ride those sick waves! Although I really miss coffee now. It kinda doesn’t grow where we crash-landed. 😉

● And, of course, the all-important question: what’s your favorite color?

Black. That’s why I wear it in the pictures, man!

And we're not done yet! We've got one more character interview to go!
