Character Interview: Rolf (Aivan: The One Truth)

Character Interview: Rolf (Aivan: The One Truth)

Welcome back! This is my second post which features interviews from Kayla E. Green's novella, Aivan: The One Truth. If you missed the interview with Rune, one of the protagonists, you'll want to go back and catch that before you continue. But if you've already read it, without further ado, let's go and meet the second protagonist--Rolf!

1. First thing's first-- care to introduce yourself to me and the readers?

So nice to meet you, Hannah. My name is Rolf Larsen. Happy to be here.

Nice to meet you, Rolf!

2. What’s your favorite part of your journey you can share with us? Of course, we don't want any spoilers!

My favorite part of my journey so far is learning who I am, and that through Aivan I am stronger than I’ve always believed.

Oooh, I love that! This reminds me of the Philippians 2:13--where the Bible says that it's not by our strength that we accomplish things, but by God's. This is such a great Biblical truth!

3. What was your least favorite part of your journey—no spoilers! (This can be a person, place, thing, or lesson.)

The queen!

I can't wait to see why....*intrigue intensifies*

4. Is there something you’ve learned (or are learning) from your journey?

Temptations are constant. Evil is out there and often times people try to sugarcoat that evil in order to avoid changing and/or admitting wrong doing. People like to turn a blind eye to evil and pretend it isn’t what it is. We have to acknowledge evil for what it is and stand up against it.

Oh, I love this! That's very wise. I think that a lot of people are very scared to change if they're wrong, or call anything wrong. It reminds me of the slippery slope the German people found themselves on before World War II. Nobody spoke up about the evils of the Nazi regime until it was too late. Like the poetic prose by Martin Niemöller, "First they came..."

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

5. Can you tell us who Aivan is to you?

Aivan is my saving grace.

Very succinct and apt!

6. Favorite color?

Sky blue.

Pretty!

7. Tea or coffee?

Coffee as long as it’s strong.

You're much braver than I am! I can only take coffee with lots and lots of creamer.

8. Cats or dogs?

I love all animals, but my favorite wouldn’t be either — I love horses, especially ones with wings.

Ooooh, I should have guessed this from your picture! I can't wait to see how this might play out in the book.... ;D

9. What’s your favorite hobby?

I like taking walks through the valleys.

This sounds so relaxing!

10. What’s one unique fact you’d like to share about you?

I don’t know if you’d call it unique, but I love sleeping in and taking naps.

Hahaha, SAME.
